Lina Söderberg

Lecturer

Lina Söderberg focuses on public sculpture, spatial installations, and form in her artistic practice. Her work delves into the properties of iron and the human mind's remarkable ability to perceive—to see what lies in between and fill in what appears to be missing.

She describes iron as an exceptionally soft and malleable material, yet one that possesses the strength to carry itself in almost any form. These qualities make it an ideal medium for shaping thoughts and ideas. Lina primarily employs welding and forging techniques in her creations, processes that demand significant time and patience. For her, the act of working with iron is a dual experience: the imprint of her hand on the material and the imprint of the iron on her body represent a blend of frustration and meditation. This intimate interaction between artist and medium underscores the essence of her creative journey.

Lina is a lecturer at Metal Art Sweden since 2018.

Tobias Birgersson

Senior Lecturer

With a background as both an educator and a practicing artist, Birgersson brings a unique perspective that bridges theoretical knowledge and hands-on expertise in the studio.

A master craftsperson in metal, jewlry and holloware arts, Tobias has established himself as a renowned artist, whose work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally.

His practice is driven by a deep understanding of materiality and form, often exploring the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary art and design. This duality is reflected in his teaching philosophy, where he encourages students to push boundaries, experiment with materials, and cultivate their own artistic identities while remaining grounded in the technical skills that are essential to craftsmanship.

Since 2015 Tobias is a Senior Lecturer at Metal Art Sweden.
